I may have irritable bowel syndrome?

I have studied a lot on it, and apparently my symptoms all seem to go with the fact that I may have it. I have diarrhea dominant IBS, I may have had this all my life - at first I always thought I was lactose intolerant, as any dairy would set me off in high quantities, but in the recent months it has become much more severe. Yesterday I had a grilled cheese sandwich, and I had some of the worst stomach pain in my life and well over 15 trips to the bathroom.

After a couple hours the pain subsided with the help of some medicine. I have had loose bowel movements/diarrhea for about 1 to 2 months now, and today I am going to the doctor. I am wondering if I am diagnosed with IBS, what would be the procedures and what should I do about it? I don't want to be afraid of what I eat for the rest of my life.

Irritable bowel syndrome, also known by its acronym, IBS, can cause a variety of symptoms that commonly occur after eating or when you're under stress. Symptoms may vary from one individual to another and can range from mild to severe in intensity. Continue reading for more information on the signs and symptoms of IBS:

Your doctor will give you all the information you need about lifestyle and diet.

Avoid wheat and aspertame (nutrisweet) for two weeks, and see if you don't feel 500% better.

Sounds like you have both IBS and lactose intolerant. I'm lactose intolerant and IBS seems to come with it naturally given having a weeker stomach. If you have IBS, the best cure for it is try to relax more. Most of that comes from stress and you tensing your intestines up and it kinks up like a garden hose, therefore, you get abnormal bowel movements.
