Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)?

what is it? i need details. i think i have it but im not sure because i am 2 young 2 go 2 the doctors on my own and i have not told my family

Try a Yahoo search for ibs (OR "irritable bowel syndrome") + symptoms.

http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases... this should help with all your questions. You should talk to your family about it though. It is nothing to be ashamed of..... If you are having heath problems you need to get them taking care of why you are young.

Read more about it. See the link below.

And tell your family about your symptoms. They'd rather know than not know.

eating spicey foods and later on having diarrhea same with dairy products but thats called lactose intolerant, pill for that. Immodium AD helps cut off the diarrhea.

You should definitely tell your family. IBS is quite common, actually! My boyfriend has it. Basically, he cramps and bloats after eating sometimes and doesn't feel better until he poops. A change in your diet and taking fiber supplements can help, but talk to your family and doctor first!

-Awwhhhh sweetie.....
You don't need to be embarrassed; it's 'natural'; we're all human and we ALL have 'issues' of one kind or another!
If you don't feel up to talking to your family you could phone a "Health-line"; here's a link to a web-site that should be able to help you find a number near you> http://teenadvice.about.com/library/week...
(Here's the number for Tele-health Ontario, IF that helps you at all 1-866-797-0000)(Kids Help Line 1-800-668-6868 -Canada)
Or you may be able to get some help from your school counsellor (or nurse if you have one), you wouldn't have to say exactly what is bothering you, just that you need information "for a friend"...!
Here's an excellent web-site>http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/health_pro... It's FOR KIDS!
I hope this helps you! And don't worry too much, things will work out! (AND, if you do 'worry' a lot, that can cause your 'stomach', etc, to feel pretty bad too...!)

P.S.-Your parents may be more 'understanding' than you think....maybe one of them has had the same problem...?!
Smile honey!!!!! :) :) :) You're not alone!!!!

IBS can be marked by cramps, bloating, excessive intestinal gas, altered bowel function ranging from diarrhea to constipation, nausea, occasionally vomiting, headache, etc. But it is important to first rule out more serious diseases like inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn disease or ulcerative colitis), celiac disease, ulcer, cancer, etc.

The symptoms are not pleasant and often embarrassing to bring up in conversation. However, because they can also represent very serious diseases, they should not be ignored. You need to have a frank discussion with your parents, telling them the possible extent of the problem, and ask that they take you as quickly as possible to see a gastroenterologist for proper diagnosis.

Fortunately, almost all of these conditions are readily treatable if caught early enough in the process. Do not delay!
