Irritable Bowel Syndrome Question?

i have been getting some symptoms for the last few months which lead me to believe i might have this. its strange but it only seems to occur when i have got up particualrly early one morning (like 4:30am or something) or mostly when im feeling worried or anxious about something- or have to do something i dont really want to. i get a sinking feeling in my lower belly and immediate cramps, crippling ones, in the same area. then i get the feeling like i need to find a bathroom- and FAST.
as i said this usually occurs when i am anxious or worried about something. this is why im asking around on here because it sounds to me as if its psychological? could any sufferers help me out and tell me if it is IBS i've got? thanks, sorry it was long! x

just wanted to add- i hardly ever get it when im sat at home watching tv with no worries- its things like if i know we're going for a long drive or i have to sit in a long meeting at work, as soon as i go into that room or even think about it beforehand, there goes the painful jolt in the lower stomach and i know i have to go to the toilet (yes diahorrea). i dont know how im ever goinna get over this

Here is some more info on IBS http://www.webmd.com/ibs/guide/default.h...

Yes, I know I have it, even though I've never seen a Dr., but it is much better now that I am in my late 20's. It says that IBS is very common in young women, in early 20's, and there are actually other symptoms besides the cramps and diarrhea you can have. It is not the same in all people. Some get constipation instead. I get exactly what you described when I'm nervous or anxious, and also when I eat certain fatty foods. It is definitely psychological as well as physical. Talk to your doctor, WebMd says that they do less tests, like simple blood test, for young women because it is so common. Good luck!

From the website: "Because IBS often results from a combination of physical and stress-related factors, a treatment approach that addresses both these causes will be most successful. In addition to treating constipation or diarrhea with medications and changes to diet and lifestyle, stress management or other psychological therapy should be a major part of your treatment plan." It also gives treatment options.

depends do you have constipation with diarrhea? i have a revolving course of this then when i get nervous i have the same symptoms as yours

Sounds like IBS and yes IBS is a psychological and arguably physiological disease. Sounds pretty text book to me but it is quite the work up to be sure so see your doctor and have a nice day.

Well, um...yup- that sounds like it to me, or it is just nerves. Go to a Doctor or a stomach Doctor (starts with Gastro...). They can help and give you medication if you do have it.

yes could be ibs this is kinda gross but ibs usually has mucus in the stool. IBS can also is caused by anxiety

IBS has a psychological component. I believe it's common for symptoms to get worse during times of stress. It sounds like IBS to me but there's no exact test for it so even a doctor wouldn't be able to say for 100% certainty. A new dietary treatment for IBS is to eliminate fructose from the diet. 30% of people with IBS are intolerant of fructose.

It sounds like you might have it. Emotional stress and anxiety definately aggrivates IBS. Also, watch what you eat. Research foods that can cause flare ups and try to limit your intake. It can be VERY painful. Talk to your doctor.

I'm not a dos, but you might suffer from anxieties, that's my problem and I have chronic pain disease , my stomach hurts, I have cramps, I feel that I cant breath , every time of stress, arguments, worried, I learned with a life couch to meditate deep breathing, relax, I do that that every day for 10 minutes, is helping me a lot, bu the best to do, visit a doc, make sure that's nothing going on

I wouldn't call it psychological but it is a stress related disease.
Try to drink 4-6 cups of peppermint tea as soon as you notice the symptoms.
also try to change the way you see a problem.
If it is something you do not want to do- do it immediately and get it over with- works for me- then you don't have something "hanging over" you all day long.
Also slow down, this is not a race. Do all your tasks at a natural pace and complete a task.
and last but not least- when faced with something you truly do not want to do ethically- DO NOT DO IT!.

I have IBS i was told at first to change my diet to high fibre to cut things out that i thought may be annoying it but it doesnt matter what i eat and i dont eat it is still the same all people with IBS are totally different with symtoms whether it be consitpation the runs pebble like mucus with bowel movements and the crippling pain i got placed on mebeverine hydrochloride to ease my symptoms as and when i needed them but certainly get to your doctor and explain all that is happening to you only he can say for sure stress etc will aggrivate it more aswell please excuse the odd spelling mistake :@)

IBS happens all the time, no real triggers.
Try to see what you eat/drink. Maybe too much caffene, things like coffee, veggies, fruits, things that make you have a softer bowel movement. Make sure you're eating regularly, having long in between eating is bad too. Don't stress, waking up stressing will make everything you just ate come right out.
