Irregular heartbeat and discomfort in evening and nighttime....? |
Lately I have been having a problem feeling like my heart is beating very iregular, but this only seems to occur at night when i'm getting ready to go to bed. Have you recently started any medications...such as anti-depressants? Or maybe pain meds such as darvocet for example? I have experienced exactly the same symptoms that you are describing when I was on anti-depressants and some other meds...there are many medicines that can do this. If you are not on any medicines, you should at least see a doctor about the problem. i had the same thing about 2 years ago for at least two months. it really made me nervous. it went away and the only thing i could think of was i was painting a lot and it must have been the fumes. have you been around chemicals or paint, household cleaners lately? I have had heart disease and also just happen to be a registered nurse. I too have palpitations which sometimes make me crazy. I have also already had my heart beat modified thru a procedure called an ablation. Arrhythmia (irregular heart beat) is a VERY serious condition with equally serious consequences. You can tell your heart is out of rhythm quite easily by feeling run down very fast, excessive tiredness, and generally having a hard time doing regular things, as a huge strain is being put on the heart. Medicines are prescribed to regulate the heart, one that comes to the top of my head-Tikosyn, or more serious procedures may go on if your system doesn't agree with the pills. Do you find it harder to go to sleep when you feel your heart is out of rhythm, as though your body has a harder time to settle down? i used to suffer from bad palpitations and it scared the hell out of me very serious if its what i think it might be I have the same problem. I had been having anxiety and panic attack symptoms for a few months also accompanied by irregular heartbeat at times. I went to the cardiologist and they put me on a drug called Nadolol, it helped with the irregularity in my heartbeat but I still feel very distinct palpaltations at night right before I go to sleep. The cardiologist has told me that it is most likely me working myself up every night because I expect it to happen and it's also playing on my anxiety. To be safe you should probably go to the doctor, but I found that laying on my left side for about 20 minutes before I fall asleep helps to ease the discomfort. Also, you could maybe try watching TV or reading a book right up until you fall asleep to try to keep your mind off of it. |
