Ok. I have an irregular heartbeat and its caused by severe stress. So any suggestions?

This may seem sarcastic, but go see a doctor and listen to what they tell you. Most people who complain about doctors are the same folks who either ignore or only partially follow doctors' recommendations. Sure, some doctors are quacks and shouldn't be allowed to practice on actual people, but most are highly trained, caring individuals who want to help.

Stress is a tricky demon. It pops up in unusual places and people who haven't ever been buried in stress before can't understand what it is like. I have three kids, am happily married, am a full-time grad student, and I'm an active duty military officer. I was fine until I added the grad student part. For the first year of school my reflux got so bad I may have to get a GI scope to dialate a burgeoning stricture. Now, I've found ways to deal with the stress, to relax, and abate some of the syptoms. You can't get rid of stress, so don't try, you'll just disappoint yourself. You can reduce it and find new coping mechanisms to deal with it when you find it.

Start by seeing a doctor. Stress causes a lot of other health problems, so make sure there aren't more issues to treat as you take on the stress monster. Then just try to stick to what your doctor tells you.

Cut out the things causing stress.

beta blockers from the doctors . they worked for me.

not that i'm a doctor, or in any way qualified to answer this, but my advice is identify whoch parts of your life are causing you stress, and ask your friends to help you in reducing them.

My friend's got a similar problem so heres her tips:
1.Don't smoke because not only will u be stressed u will also be getting cravings so big no-no!
2. Take 10 deep breaths slowly, close ur eyes and breath out slowly.
3. If this doesn't work then walk away frm the situation whatever that may be. Ur health is more important!
4. try and exercise regularly even if it's jst going for a walk.
5. Eat good nutrious food no junk, well ok but in moderation!
6. Try and get enough sleep this will make u feel so much better.
Hope these are of sum use to u

Stop worrying.
It has either already happened, or it won't happen.
And there is nothing to fear but fear itself.

Not much help I know, but it's the real cure.
Just a pity we cannot change our physiological or psychological make-up at will.

The first thing any decent doctor will tell you is to reduce your stress. Also, reduce your caffiene intake. Some irregularities still require treatment, even after these measures, so see your cardiologist.

What is stress?Do you know that what we call as stress is actually the things that we do not know how to handle or rejection of the things we need to do.Take for example,if a person do not drink. He will feel stress and uncomfort with drinkers hang out late.Someone do not like singing ,he will feel stress if he need to sing for his friends.Stress is cause by our own emotional ,rejection and personalize feeling.Stress is a modern term and it is our own worst enemy.Cool down and relax.Things need to happens ,happens ;need to come ,it come. All things follow a sequence call karma cycle. You are in if you feel stress.S T R E SSsssssssss. Once i was like you.Stress angel call me and said "You will be next fews on line ,now wait for your number and if you know the answer "What is Stress ".and if you know how to handle stress, you are out of my control.Good luck if not you paid the price and see you in hell.........

The stress is because you are thinking that the irregular heartbeat would do you harm. Its one of the conditions and not completely a disorder. Its something a lil bit deviated from normal. Just relax and keep cool, the more you are stressed the more it would worsen. So, just chill.

P.S. Please keep the normal routine of the medicines you take for this. Hope to see you in a better mood the next time you come on this site.

Stress: Can't live without it and reducing stress is not the way to look at it. There are some pretty philosophical answers above/below on the nature of stress, and whether you believe its the physiological effects on the body, or the various 'duties' that you feel obliged to fulfill in your life, the treatment is much the same.
Some studies even show that stress can be good - improved productivity, etc. But all things have a limit, and too much stress results in reduced performance. But the body's ability to handle stress is improved by excersize, good diet, regular sleeping patterns of adequate length, and time management techniques. Improve all of these, and you will get the same or more done while feeling less stressed. ie Don't "reduce your stress, but rather increase your bodies performance ability"

Drugs: Caffeine is a big killer - I have seen 1 cup of coffee cause irregularities on a heart ECG (EKG for US people). How many do you drink a day? "Energy drinks" are a big No NO as well - they are NOT Performance enhancers. They are lots of sugar and caffiene. If you want to see what they do to you, watch "Supersize me" and see the high / low effect in Morgan. (And that's just the sugar component!)
Nicotine: Won't be helping the situation, but if you are trying to change your lifestyle all in one hit, (inc giving up smoking) this could cause more stress.
Obviously other drugs such as cocaine and other illicit drugs can cause heart problems and should be stopped.

See you GP! Beta blockers may be the answer, but they can be dangerous for some type of irregularities of the heart, so get it checked out and consider getting a second opinion.

if you value your life do some thing to get rid of the stress
