Can flovent cause an irregular heartbeat ? |
I have recently had 2 SVT, 3 weeks apart. stayed home for 1st one. 2nd one was worse, went to ER for 3 hours. bpm hit 210. 2 shots drop pulse rate. I'm definitely off Albuterol for asthma bronchial diliation but what about Flovent? does it tamper with the heartrate ?? Generally, the answer is no, Flovent does not cause SVT. It is a steroid that helps relieve inflamation in the lungs...preventing asthma attacks. However, I will say this....any medication can have an unusual effect on some people, so I will not say Flovent cannot possibly cause your SVT. I will say, it would be unusual if it did. Talk this over with your physician. There is very possibly another underlying cause for your SVT. Also, you may not be using Albuterol, but are there other meds you are on like theophylline? Flovent in itself should not cause tachycardia, but every inhaler has a propellant in it, and that may be the cause. Just something to think about in trying to figure this thing out... |
