Is it ;posssible to have an irregular heartbeat and it not be detected by EKG?

Sometimes my skips a beat and it hurts and it's really scary! I went to the hospital last year and they said the EKG was normal, but then it happened again. It ususally occurs a few times a week. Is this nerves of could it be something more serious! I can't get the answers I need! Please give me some opinions!!!!

i have the same problem i also have an irregular heartbeat and had an ekg and they told me everything was normal. then my doctor made me wear a heart monitor for 24 hrs and thats when he told me about my irregular heartbeat. maybe you should have a ecg done i had one of those and he told me evverything was fine. thats when they do an ultra sound of you heart.

Yes it's possible. Make an appointment with your regular doctor (or find one) to get evaluated. This could be simply due to anxiety, or something else entirely, but I wouldn't mess around with it.

My entire family is affected by anxiety/panic attacks and/or tachycardia and we all take different drugs to control it.

If your irregular heartbeat is due to "nerves" as you say, you must look at what it is in your life that is causing these symptoms.

See a medical doctor first, and if necessary, see a psychologist or counselor to find out if they can help.

Good luck!

If there is any question, you can wear a monitor for a few days to catch any irregularities.

It's called "irregular heart beat" for a reason. The EKG might of read "normal" during the time of your heart beating normally. EKG's are only good when you are having the sx during the time of recording. Otherwise- EKG's are at no value.

The heart monitor everyone's talking about is called a 24 hour "Holter monitor", or they could do an "Event monitor for 30 days."
