Iron sources/supplements? |
I would like to raise my iron level in a healthy way besides taking iron supplements and/or geritol. Besides spinach (which actually doesn't contain all that much iron), can anyone suggest palatable, iron-rich foods so that I can get my iron level to a healthy one so that I can donate plasma and earn extra money for college/gas? Well, red meat has plenty of iron. If you choose to use an iron suppliment - I have a strange suggestion. Iron suppliments make adults very constipated. My doctor told me to try children's vitamins with iron added. Flinstones with Iron or something similar. I have to tell you that I felt a little strange taking my kids vitamins -- but it worked! and no constipation. Liver and raisins are two very good sources of iron and both are used by the body easily. |
