Low Iron in Bones? |
I had my iron tested and my doctor said that my iron levels were normal but that I had low levels of iron in my bones. I asked him what that means and what the symptoms and causes of that is, but he just said "in simple terms that means that you need to take (prescription) iron supplements". I have been aenemic before and had to have an iron tranfusion and have had problems with low iron my whole life. (My daughter who is 3 is borederline aenemic and has to take extra iron with her vitamins.) I have been feeling dizzy, tired/weak and nauseaous and my blood pressure is 95/60. (The past few times my doctor said my blood pressure has been low and he told me I was dehydrated, so I've been drinking more, but it doesn't seem to help. Any ideas what this means and what I can do to help it? Wow, I've never had an unanswered question before... I guess your TIBC or transferrin levels were checked. Transferrin carries iron from tissues to the bone marrows so a drop in plasma transferrin makes low levels of iron in the bones. |
