Does Iron in the blood go down? |
I went to see my physician today. Due to this problem. Yes it should go down. But I am not a doctor so always follow your doctors advice. I would stop taking the multivitamin, maybe eat less red meat. Just be careful though you don't want your iron to go down to far, or you going to have to take Iron pills. Yes your iron will go down. Would go down faster Especially if you were a girl, cause the girl's period brings a blood loss thus bringing down iron level. Change your vitamins to the brand with no or low iron. And slow down on red meat and cut out molasses if you take it. Hi Peter, Yes. Try some day. If it's from your diet then your fine, but there is a blood disorder where you have too much iron in your blood. A family friend has it. It's genetic and debiliting. One therapy is blood letting, but I think if it's caught early enough there are medications that can help. Yes, it will go down. I have low iron so I am constantly trying ot keep it up. I take Centrum also and it helps. I also up my red meat intake when I start getting sluggish. I also take Black Strap Mollasses. This is a big boost to iron...quick. It is disgusting, but it works. So I would have to say stay away from foods with Moleasses in it. Some cookies and "naturally sweetened" food have it. Hope this helps. Didn't you ask your doctor these things. That is what they get paid for. Give blood, that will help. Iron levels in men only go down with bleeding. It could be hemachromatosis- or iron overload. It can cause liver and heart disease. It can be very serious. The good news is that the treatment is easy and effective. They just remove blood every few weeks- like giving blood in a donation (except in this case they can't donate the blood) |
