Iron Deficiency,Anemia Symptoms?

I've been a vegetarian for two and a half years and, not surprisingly have low iron levels. I take enough iron supplements to keep myself above anemia, but recently I saw an odd statement..

"We have this soft ice machine at work and I think I鈥檓 addicted to it. It makes the little spongy nugget style of ice. I mostly just melt it in my mouth and then drink the chilly water but it鈥檚 fun to eat as well. Apparently if I had an overwhelming urge to chew the ice it may be a sign of low iron levels."

Oddly enough, the local chicken place down the road has the same kind of ice, and whenever we go there and get tea I always wind up eating the ice.

Is this a real symptom of iron deficiency, or just an odd coincidence?

I've given blood before and my iron level hovers around the minimum, 12..

Still I take 3 iron pills and a Vitamin C pill plus a multivitamin every day.

I'm not worried about becoming dangerously anemic, just curious to see if chewing ice is really a symptom.

I am anemic and I am tired most of the time. I also have very thin hair and I am only 16 and my hair has been thin as that of a 50 year old wince I was 14.

My anemia is very bad the doctors say so if you have those kinda symptoms I stated to a lesser degree, chances are that you are anemic.

Only one way to know for sure, a blood test.

This is absolutely not a sign of Iron deficiency I assure u
the main signs are general fatigue, and at a leter stage shite spots on the skin

sory to say this, but im afraid so it is...
and its preety bad...
i know how good it feels to feel the ice in your mouth especialy under your molars.
when i went to the doctor my blood level was "seven" which is extremely terrible, and unhealthy...

so i think you should go to the doctor as soon as possible before its too late.

(in my case i realy didnt want to go, but my mom forced me to) just imagine if i didnt what could've happend to me today, or where could've been....

so for your own good... see a doc. (URGENT) immediatly
