Iron tablets - what is the normal doseage for someone with anemia related hairloss?

My ferratin level was 18 back in January - and I know it needs to be between 60-200 to stop the hairloss I'm experiencing...

I've had MASSIVE problems with my doctors, incompetance is an understatement (but that's another issue I'm asking about elsewhere on here!). So that's why I'm now asking the general public, rather than try yet another doctor!

Basically one doctor told me off for taking 16mg of iron daily - even though its obvious I need to build up my iron stores.

Another doctor has put me on 200mg of Ferrous Sulphate...

I'm finishing up my iron tablets (as I am overseas for a week and can't get the prescription), by taking 4 a day, so thats 16x4=64mg iron a day.

Is that too much or too little?!

I guess if my experience of doctors hadn't been so bad, i'd trust the recent doctor that gave me the prescription... I'm just wondering if anyone out there has been treated for the same thing and can give me an insight - as I don't trust the NHS any more.

Thanks

that's a question that should be asked to your doctor. please ask him/her.
