Iron defieciency? |
I am severly anemic. My hemoglobin is rising which is a good thing, it went from an 8.5 to a 10.7 (normal is over 12) but the wierd thing is is that my iron absorption lowering. I was at a 5 at my highest point and now im at a 1 (normal is 35-65). I am on iron supplements 3 times a day and i am sure to take them on an empty stomach since it is the best way to absorb it but im just not getting the iron and i am still tired all the time and i get dizzy very easily. Any ideas what is causing this?? You should get a second opinion. Maybe yours is a special case but there are not many good doctors who prescribe iron tablets They are dangerous. Eat meat, lentils, spinach and coloured vegetables. In females the iron can vary and also females are more prone to it. I have had little to no luck with iron supplements on their own. I now make sure I drink water soluble high iron foods. OJ/Banana smoothies, spinach juice and eat as many green veggies as I can. I'm surprised about the taking it on an empty stomach because that can actually DECREASE absorption. |

I recommend Iron Plus C Complex. The vitamin C is added for better iron absorption. Also the iron is plant based, so there will be no problem with possible constipation. One tablet daily is reco... i have had iron deficiency anemia since i was 12 due to heavy periods (a lot of women also have this) so i have been taking a multi-vitamin since i began menstruating to keep my iron levels up and ... The more vitamin C you take the more iron you will absorb. ...not only kids get it. i suggest you talk to your dentist. ...If you had an iron deficiency while pregnant, you may very well still have it.
