Iron in the body what are the levels and when do they become risk? |
i want to know my son who is only 1 has a iron level at 800 he has thalassemia major the doc said that when it reaches 2000 thats when they will give him medication to throw out exccess iron i want to know at what levels are the iron to much in the body ? I don't have my lab book handy, but I think they have them in libraries or book stores, esp medical bookstores. Seems to me normal iron is about 18? or somewhere around there...800 sounds very high to me.... Small amounts of iron can kill some people . Have doctor check soon. |
