Iron question for girls...?

I thought i had my iron deficient anemia under control by eating extra iron but during my period i get really tired, bleed heavy (not too heavy), really bad cramps for the first hour (usually at night), and somethines i feel kind of dizzy. What should i do to keep my iron levels up? (ps i have high pottassium)
Thank you

You really should consult you physician first. It is not uncommon for a girl to be anemic. Don't drink iced tea or soda pop, and alcohol. These fluids usually deplete your body of iron. Foods high in iron are green leafy veggies, beans, fish, pork and red meat(oh don't forget prunes!!!). Usually during periods, its a woman's body's way of purging its system. And iron is something it doesn't like. Iron supplements (ferrous sulfate) should help but it does give you stomach cramps and black, tarry stools. I am not doctor but having high K+ levels may affect your iron intake. You really need to eat and exercise. Or it just may be the way your body is. Put please either way, consult your doctor! Good luck!

you should buy some vitamins , they should also have irons try CVS

I don't know, maybe iron is not really the problem since you take already extra iron.

Take an iron supplement during your period. You can buy them at any drug store.
