I was recently told that my iron level is high (198 micrograms/dL). Should I be concerned? |
In the past, I have always been diagnosed as anemic. I have been turned away from giving blood because my iron was too low. When I was pregnant with each of my 4 children, I always had low iron and was told to take an iron supplement. Now, it's been almost 2 years since I took any kind of iron supplement, and I am being told my iron is too high. I am 37 years old and otherwise healthy. I am worried that the sudden shift in my iron levels might indicate that something is wrong. I would recommend consulting your doctor as well for further clarification of what this level for your iron could be an indication of. |
