How long does it take Iron to be absorbed into the bloodstream? HELP PLEASE?

2 weeks ago, I was told by an RN that my iron was REALLY low... After she pricked my finger, she measured my level at about 8.3. Apparently, this is VERY, VERY, low... She recommended iron pills and told me to come back in a week. (I need to have a procedure done, and they refuse to work on me till my level is up to AT LEAST a10). Well, I went back this past Friday - after taking 2 iron pills a day for that 1 week, and was told that I'm still low (9.1). Well, this procedure needs to get done VERY soon, so I've upped my game a lot. I went and stocked up on Liver, greens, Total Cereal, fruit, orange juice, seafood, and everything else loaded with iron. Since Saturday, I've been taking 4 iron pills a day (2 in the morning and 2 at night), and have set up a rigid iron filled meal schedule for myself to follow this entire week... What do you guys think? All set for Saturday? Any other ideas for me? I've only just heard of something called 'Kelp'... What do you think?

Kelp is a seaweed which is used to help people with thyroid problems. It contains natural sodium since it comes from the ocean. Since your level has jumped from 8.3 to 9.1 within a week. It will most likely be above level 10 within one more week. Therefore, taking 4 pills a day is overkill and can do more harm than good.

The average female requires 18 mgs of iron a day. A pregnant female requires 30 mgs. If your pills extend beyond that amount, reduce your intake.

all that should be more than enough...watch you dont get constipated with all that iron.

Goodness, don't overdose. U ought to have it covered. Now ur going to need a stool softener. :)
