How much iron do I need??? |
I am 23,female, and on no kind of meds whatsoever...not birthcontrol or etc...I am 5'6 136lbs, just wonder about how much iron is required daily...I was told my iron was low...and that I needed to take iron pills, but then I dont research online and read too much was BAD for you...so...can anyone give me a link telling how much iron a person actually needs?I dont eat any red meat either btw...thanks guys To correct iron deficiency, take 2-3mg/kg ferrous sulfate. At 136#, you're 61.8kg. That's about 100-200mg (124-185mg exactly) daily in 3 divided doses. Of course it would be much safer and smarter to simply ask your doctor, who may have an entrirely different dosage in mind for you, since he/she knows your labs and I don't. Ask a Doctor or Pharmacist. Sometimes iron tablet can give you diarrhea |
