I have a low iron question, please answer?

ok so my dr. has always told me that i have low iron, but now i think its getting worse, because i feel really tired all the time, and at times, i can barely keep my eyes open, sometimes i even fall asleep at my desk at work.

now he has told me that my iron level is at 8.
i used to be anemic, and have a low hemoglobin level for a few years, but now the dr. said that is better, and im not really anemic anymore, i think my level is 110 now.

anyways i tried taking iron pills, they make me feel sick, and i also tried the liquid palafar.. (i know its for kids lol)
what is a good supplement that doesnt make u constipated etc. ?

have any of u had a low iron like mine, and after takin supplements did it go up? how long did it take? did u actually feel less tired?

also i am almost 22 years old, and i am soon planning on getting pregnant..once i feel better.. will there be any problems if i take iron?

thanks

I recommend all natural Iron Plus C Complex. I have a young friend who during her pregnancy her iron level became quite low. She took the Iron Plus C Complex and saw results right away due to her increased energy. When she had her next drs visit, her iron level was just fine. The iron is plant-based so there should not be a problem with constipation. The vitamin C is added for better iron absorption. Studies show that 3.3 million women in the US have an iron deficiency.

Hope this is helpful and feel free to contact me with questions.

you can take vitamins that contain iron and give you what you need. i take one a day for woman

Iron is one of the few supplements that is very hard to get out of your system once it goes in. Most vitamins either get absorbed by your body or get excreted out in the form of urine. If you have this problem, I hope you are eating well since that wasn't mentioned, but I would not suggest that you try to get pregnant until you have stopped feeling tired for a few months. Once you get pregnant, you may get severe anemia since it's going mostly to the fetus.

Have you gotten a full physical examination with blood work to see what is causing the anemia? You may want to get this resolved before having a baby as once you have the baby, there is no turning back. If you're tired now, you are going to be severely depressed and tired during/after pregnancy. Go see a Gynecologist who may be able to help you with pre-pregnancy health.
