ok well im 14 years old and well i just got over my period which lasted 2 extra days anywyas...... i was wondering im sooooo weak...cuz this time i lost a lot of blood and it was really heavy..anyways im so weak! my mom told me that im losing alot of iron ...and my dad is going to get my iron pills tonight and i was wondering are they safe to use? and how many times do i have to take them???? also can u please name any type of foods or fruits that have Iron is them! thanks! I have the same problem...(9 day periods with a lot of blood los...)...so I know how it feels to be that weak...There are actually foods you can eat to help with giving you iron! A lot of women experience fatigue during and right after their periods, it's hormones and other things. It COULD be a loss of iron, but I've heard that you have to be careful as to how much iron you take, so.. I would call your doctor as ask before you go taking iron suppliments. It's a tricky thing to deal with so be safe and call your doctor. Only take them at the recommended dosage on the label. To take them excessively beyond this recommend dose can be hazardous to your health. You should NEVER take iron supplements without seeing your doctor first to determine if you are truely anemic or not. Your doc can test your blood to see if your iron is low or not. I take the lowest dosage I can. And if you take iron you need to eat fiber :) When they are indicated n u take them in proper doses after food (not on empty stomach ie), they should be safe.
