Low iron...?

ok so i'm 15 and i recently found out that i have low iron (i'm not sure on how low it is) but i was wondering what are some of the effects of having low iron??

also what causes someone to have low iron?

The causes of iron deficiency are too little iron in the diet, poor absorption of iron by the body, and loss of blood (including from heavy menstrual bleeding). It can also be related to lead poisoning in children.

Symptoms of iron deficiency can be:
Pale skin color Fatigue
Irritability Weakness
Shortness of breath Sore tongue
Brittle nails Unusual food cravings
Decreased appetite Headache - frontal
Blue tinge to whites of eyes
or
There may be no symptoms if anemia is mild.

To combat iron deficiency:

Oral iron supplements are available. The best absorption of iron is on an empty stomach, but many people are unable to tolerate this and may need to take it with food. Milk and antacids may interfere with absorption of iron and should not be taken at the same time as iron supplements. Vitamin C can increase absorption. Plus, iron-rich foods include raisins, meats (liver is the highest source), fish, poultry, eggs (yolk), legumes (peas and beans), and whole grain bread, will help bring your blood iron count back into normal range.

Everyone's diet should include adequate amounts of iron. Red meat, liver, and egg yolks are important sources of iron. Flour, bread, and some cereals are fortified with iron. If you aren't getting enough iron in your diet (uncommon in the U.S.), iron supplements should be taken.

I have suffered it for long being a vegetarien but the only thing that fuly helped me after traying different foods was red meat.

low iron causes iron deficiency anemia characterised by easy fatigability, shortness of breath, blurring of vision and lack of concentration. Low iron may be the result of inadequate nutrition or to chronic blood loss.
