No Blood Iron?

My boyfriend, in the past, has had his blood tested for everything. The doctor came back and said he had 'no blood iron' and he was fine. Every blood test afterwards shows no blood iron, from several doctors. Is there a genetic condition that involves the lack of blood iron, and how his metabolisim can still continue without the fuel from hemoglobin? He is also the the oposite of diabetic, hypoglycemic, he needs sugars to keep an energetic balance in his daily activity, beyond his usual picky digestive system.

He cannot take iron suppliments, they make him sick

A picky digestive system, anemia, and hypoglycemia make me think of celiac disease, which is an allergy to wheat.

I don't understand why the doctors haven't seemed to pursue this more aggressively. Anemia is common in young women but not really in males. A test for antibodies against wheat is the first step in diagnosing celiac disease.

Taking a daily iron supplement can help improve this, and if he does not go to the doctor for antibody testing he might want to try a test-run of a wheat-free diet to see if his other symptoms improve.
