Iron foods?

Well i visited my doctor yesterday and he says i have Iron deficiency in my diet so guys please suggest me some foods which i could eat on regular basis to increase the iron intake in my body . thanks

Spinach, lean red meats including beef and pork, tuna, salmon, shrimp, clams, beans incuding soy beans and lentils, iron fortified whole grains and pastas, tofu, broccoli, asparagus, parlsey, watercress, chicken, turkey, nuts, egg yokes, raisins, dried apricots, prunes and dates.

Also keep in mind that Vitamin C can help your body absorb iron, so it is a good idea to pair iron rich foods with foods that have a lot of Vitamin C, including citrus fruits and iron fortified orange juice.

Also, It's harder for the body to absorb the nonheme iron that is found in fruits, vegetables, and grains, than the heme iron that is found in animal foods, including red meats, poultry, and fish.

A quick search using your search engine (wonderful tool!) would have given you a ton of information...

Here's just one site I found when I did a search on 'foods high in iron' (no quotes) http://www.breastflap.com/iron_foods.htm

top ten iron rich foods

路 clams, cooked, 3 oz (23.8 mg)
路 tofu, 1/2 cup firm (13.2 mg)
路 raisin bran, ready-to-eat, 3/4 cup (4.5 mg)
路 sirloin steak, cooked, 3 oz (2.9 mg)
路 shrimp, cooked, 3 oz (2.6 mg)
路 black beans, boiled, 1/2 cup (1.8 mg)
路 chickpeas, canned, 1/2 cup (1.6 mg)
路 turkey breast, 3 oz (0.9 mg)
路 bread, whole wheat, 1 slice (0.9 mg)
路 chicken breast, skinless, 1/2 breast (0.9 mg)

I have battled anemia and two foods that have helped me have been kidney beans and cream of wheat. No joke. One serving of Cream of Wheat has half the RDA of iron. Check it out--

In addition to eating more red meat and leafy green vegetables, I'd recommend you simply take a multivitamin. Most all daily multivitamins have a 100 percent daily value of iron.

Check
http://www.fatfreekitchen.com/nutrition/...
where I found the following, as well as lists of suggested foods and the amounts of iron therein, quotation below:

Vegetables like broccoli and bok choy are vegetables rich in iron.and also high in vitamin C, which increases absorption of their iron content. Combinations such as beans and tomato or tofu and broccoli result in good iron absorption.
Eating of iron rich foods removes iron deficiency.
The daily requirement of iron is very easily met with vegetarian diets. For example, 1 cup of cooked spinach contains 3 mg, 1 cup of tofu contains 13.2 mg and 1 cup cooked lentils give 6.4 mg of iron.

Surprisingly, sea vegetables show much higher iron than even meat.
