Intestinal blockage operation???

Hi , i have been told that i may have a blockage and hae to go into hospital today.
The docs think i have crohnes disease which may have caused this.
I have read that sometimes they remove a part of the intestine, how long is the stay in hospital? Will i be out before christmas day?
And how long is the complete recovery time?

With no complications, you should be in the hospital for 3-7 days. Crohns causes scarring which can cause your bowels to 'stick' together and bind up, in which case they would possibly do a bowel resection (remove part of your intestine) if they weren't able to perform a lysis of adhesions (releasing the scar tissue so that the bowels could separate normally and return to normal function.) Try not to worry too much; just concentrate on doing EXACTLY what your skilled surgeon instructs you to do. It is not an uncommon problem and the surgeon has probably performed many of these procedures before.
