How to gather strength to go out again, after you have acquired various injuries/diseases?

and you feel sad and worthless. I used to go downtown alot and be happy, i used to run be active. Now i can't cause i have knee problems, back problems, neck problems,,, all kinds of stuff. i just feel so sad. yeah you've heard it "why me?" i always ask myself and god that. and i'm not even in a wheelchair but i limp, my knees hurt, i can't bend my knees fully.. i have ear problems, intestinal problems, etc etc... It's just so different thatn 3 years ago. i used to be hapy and confident. now i just feel like going out and seeing all these normal people is just to sad to think about why i'm not like them anymore.

I'm 26 years old now

Aches and pains suck. They take the wind out of your sails very quickly. You have to decide if the pain and discomfort is enough to just give up and do nothing anymore. So the sports are out, who cares, watch them, cheer them on, etc. If you are embarrassed about a limp don't be look at many people these days, young and old, if you are not crawling down the street on your face people are not going to give your limp a second thought,
and if you are someone will probably try to help you off of your face. It sucks not being able to be who you used to be, but that does not mean you can not be someone better now. (I am) Good luck to you and if you may want to think about seeing a psychologist to help you deal with the situational depression and self pity (no offense meant) to see if you can feel better about your situation.

1) Stop pitying urself. 2) Grow up. 3) Remember cry and u cry alone, laugh and the world laughs with you. So, get up and go out even if u have to crawl at least u can move on ur own, there r others who cannot move an inch without taking somebody's help

OK, get yourself a bottle of St. John's Wort capsules down at the health food store, and take one three times a day. They are recommended for "minor depression," but if you had major depression, you wouldn't even be functional enough to write this question. And if you treat minor depression, it rarely turns into major depression.

I call St. John's my good faith effort to have a good attitude. And as to all those aches and pains, etc., there's lots of company for you there. As we baby boomers age, we join you in the various discomforts. But don't bother with envy of the young and strong and able-bodied. It's a waste of time and does nobody any good. You are the person you are and you have the body you have. Make the most of it, and keep your sense of humor.

Good luck!

Yup, me too . . . but we are all mortal, the youth, adult plateau and decline cycle vary for everyone . . . but it is pointless to waste time lamenting the loss of the past. There are other beauties ( art, music, food etc ) to enjoy and finding the other things gives us a distraction to fill our time. These motivating activities also let us start being physical again because they are excellent distractions while we rebuild the body. ( although it will not be totally what it once was ) Nature does not work that way.
The only thing worse than wasting 3 years spinning ones wheels about the past . . . is 3 years and a day.
