Garlic smell?

Sometimes when I speak there is a slight garlic odor even when I have not been eating garlic. This started quite a few years ago (not long after I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease) and I assumed it was halitosis at first. However, nothing makes the smell go away. I brush my teeth repeatedly, floss, use mouthwash, etc. and then when I speak it just smells like a minty form of garlic. My body doesn't even smell like garlic, so I know it's not really body odor or anything.

I read someone online that if this happens to you it means you have a good pulmonary system. Is this true? I don't see what the connection would be.

For years - after finding out it wasn't my breath (even my dentist confirmed this) - I assumed that there was some connection between it and my gastro-intestinal disease.

Anyone have any ideas?

To the person who said it was due to untreated constipation: I'm not constipated. :)

Also, for others: I doubt breathmints will work when my dentist himself told me it wasn't due to my breath.

The smell might be coming from your intestines then. I would go to a GI specialist and have it looked at more, but I highly doubt that there is an over the counter remedy for getting rid if the smell. Maybe there is a medication perhaps that could work. I hope this helped in some way. Good luck with that though. :)

The reason for getting smell (of garlic or any other not so sweet odors) is that you suffer from untreated constipation. This can be avoided only if you get rid of constipation. For this please take lot of water/liquids and do lot of exercises. Have high fiber content in foods. By this your conditions of constipation and smelling mouth will improve.

You are already repeatedly brush your teeth - Brush only in the morning and after every food, clean your tongue and apply mouthwash. If you continue all these successfully for about 2 months you will definitely see the improvement. You should also continue to have all these for ever-.

dont take garlic pills. brush teeth well and use listerine. take breathmints every so often.
