Does stomach/intestinal cancer shorten your life span or anything?

my dad had cancer when i was like.. 3 years old. i dont remember much so i dont want to ask my parents about it.
but once they talked about hoping my dad makes it till im like 18 years old?
im 15 right now. i think my dads like. 54 and he weighs like 113 pounds.

does cancer shorten your life span or do anything else to you if you survived it?

This is impossible to answer without knowing the facts. No one can predict adequately how long someone has to live. If your father is currently disease free than I am not sure why you are asking this question. Does he have any other health issues? Does he still have cancer? Is he is remission? I would say that if he has lived for 12 years without cancer than he is doing pretty well . . unless he has had a relapse?

So, given the info you've shared above . . the answer is that no . . if your Dad is cancer free . . it does not shorten your life span. Many people who have survived cancer go on to lead normal lives for many years. Something other than cancer might be affecting your fathers health. Sometimes cancer patients have more than one health issue that is unrelated to the disease. Maybe that is what has happened with your Dad.
It's really impossible to say. Why don't you ask your father or mother these questions?
