Travelled to Italy no insurance, car accident, in intensive care.will hospital still give treatment? |
any knowledge please help. a friend of mine is laying in intencive care unit , all family memember,s are here in london, worried sick. he had no insurance so we can,t contain any information on his injurys only that he was in a fatal car crash, all belongings have been handed over to his father, who is himself in hospital and very poorly.i would be so greatful for any advice or information if you have any knowledge of this kind of crisis. my friend is in his 50,s and he as a loving family who is worried sick, they are trying they,r best to retain all information , don,t even know what hospital/ ward he would be in. the accident happened yesterday, will the hospital give him all treatment needed? will they operate if had to? please someone, if you can share any information we would be most greatful. yes he was driving the car, not sure if he was insured as a driver, but he never had insurance for his travel to italy. If he's in hospital, then the doctors there have a "duty of care" to treat him. Details too scant Was he driving WITHOUT insurance? Was he a passengr in a vehicle without insurance? No medical establishment will refuse or withdraw treatment. It is part of the medical oath to save life. your countries embassy should help, also if your an EU citizen and had accident in another EU country, there should be help available E14 form i think that needs to be filled best of luck. They can't refuse to treat him because he wasn't/isn't insured. Insurance covers the cost of the treatment. he should get the treatment he needs, but it will have to be paid for in full by him or someone on his behalf. I wish him a full and speedy recovery. |
