Has any one been a patient in intensive care and how did you experience it? |
For those who saw this question before, I'm just asking again to get more testimonials. I was a patient in the ICU for a few days after giving birth to my son via c-section. I was allowed to labor more than 3 days so after the cesarean I had massive internal bleeding and had a total of 24 units of blood transfused. I had 2 surgeries to stop the bleeding and was airlifted to a different hospital because the hospital I gave birth at was depleted of it's blood supply as well as all other hospitals within about 50 miles. I had a four way bypass, the surgeon was watching everything going on and me with tubes coming out of everywhere, one on each side by my lungs with blood running out and blood running in with transfusions, it's a scary and nasty situation. Then when they see you are going to make it they give you a forget fullness shot and it's very hard to remember anything about it. You wake up so peaceable and rested it makes it all worth while when i was in the army i ended up in icu for low blood pressure and dehydration i guess because it was sooo hot down there i was sweating waay more than i was drinking which was a lot and i passed out pretty much they had to get my blood pressure up before they could rehydrate me and after 2 days i was pretty much normal again and i stayed in a regular room for a few more days after that i was way more careful not to push myself as hard during pt and i drank a lot more water been fine since i dont remember a whole lot from my stay in icu |
