I have just come out of hospital, having a bleeding bowel ,and have had transfusions ,morphine, antibiotics, this happens alot and I am ok when I am in hospital but when i get home every time I get terrible anxiety, fast heartbeat, sickness, can't sleep and feel really panicky as if I am in a terrifying situation , I feel i can't just be ,I try to breathe deeply , but has anyone any tips on how to deal with this each time, I have another operation next week ,Anyone else felt like this? please sensible answers any help will make a difference thanks, i have 2 kids to think of and want to be ok for them,

I was just signing out when I read your e mail. I am so sorry that you are feeling like that. I am sure its the anxiety or not knowing what is going to happen and who is going to look after your children. I think you have to try to occupy your mind with other things and push all the negative thoughts out of your mind. I know its easy for me to say but I think its the only way. I was in a similar state when my brother passed away two years ago and I taught myself to push all horrible thoughts away and replace them with the positive thoughts...like...I have two children who love me... I have nice friends and family...I like reading, painting, etc. then give yourself something nice to look forward to such as seeing your favourite TV programme. Try and find something nice to watch every day or to do something nice everyday. If your children are small get them to sit near you and read them a story or tell them little things that they used to do when they were small....They will treasure all this and remember you telling them these things. They will realise how special they are to you. If you are able make little presents for them...not something expensive just something very little so they too have something to look forward to and to make them happy.
Good luck with your operation and I hope and pray that things will get easier and nicer for you. God bless you and your family.
