Daughter, 23, badly sunburned last summer on lower legs. still itch terribly. cortisone no help. ideas? |
no otc lotions --eucerin, vaseline intensive care--or calamine lotion help ditto benadryl tablets Primarily infection is a problem. Make sure to keep area clean with warm water and a sterile cloth or pad ( Do not use free fiberous pads, like cotton wool). If area is kept clean this will help itching. Calomine lotion can be bought over the counter and can be added to baths as can aloe vera -these are both as affective as potent medicine or prescription medicines.Use an OTC topical steroid cream such as Cortaid if the pain persists. Don't use local anesthetic creams or sprays that numb pain such as Benzocaine. They can cause allergic reactions in some people. you could try aloe vera that's miraculous sometimes. |
