Do I have insulin resistance? |
My doctor sent me a letter today to let me know how my bloodwork (done during the last week) turned out. The letter stated that my glucose levels were at 104 which was ..."a little bit high, but nothing to worry about." That seemed pretty high to me--I think normal is around 80-, so I am wondering if I need to be concerned about insulin resistance. This bloodwork was not done after a fast-I had eaten breakfast, lunch and had two cups of coffee that day. YOU ARE FINE, EVEN ON A 12 HOUR FAST YOUR GLUCOSE LEVEL RUNS BETWEEN 80-120 FOR A NORMAL. ANYTHING OVER THE 120 IS CONSIDER BORDERLINE HIGH, AND YOU MAY HAVE TO GO ON A SPECIAL DIET TO TRY AND CONTROL IT. IF IT GETS HIGHER OR STAYS HIGH WITH THE DIET THEY WILL PUT YOU ON ORAL INSULIN. THEN MAYBE DOWN THE LINE INSULIN SHOTS. BUT DON'T WORRY YOU ARE JUST FINE TRUST ME. |
