Eating small meals=Insulin Resistance? |
I have heard that eating frequent, small meals through out the day can cause an insulin resistance. Is this true? No, that's not true. In general, eating frequent small meals is a good way to stay healthy. You are much less likely to have reflux (food going up the esophagus) from small meals. Also, by eating frequent small meals you are less likely to overeat. The most common reason for insulin resistance is obesity. Different people metabolize foods differently, I would definitely ask my doctor. I have been a diabetic for 17 years, type 1 and have to eat lots of small meals because if I eat a large meals my sugar goes way up and I need more insulin to get it back down.
