PCOS and Insulin Resistance?

I found out a year and half ago that I have PCOS and a year ago that I am Insulin Resistent.
I have read books on both subjects but they do not offer realistic eating plans to lower my weight and keep it off.
Can anyone help?

have u seen a GYNECOLOGIST??
apart from weight reduction they usually start off with METFORMIN for regularising ur insulin levels
it is initially given as 500mg tab to be taken with a meal and starting with a low dose to reduce side effects and then to twice daily
all the best

All endocrine systems interact. It is really rare for one to have only one of the problems.

My food plan is South Beach phase 2, tailored to suit my lifestyle. I do not know if the ADA will go through with their thoughts to change the wording on their stuff, but the thought is right now that they will admit Low Carb Diets to their list of how to eat. This rewording is to come out in January in their annual report.

Why don't you go get a couple of books: Atkins Diabetes Revolution, South Beach Diets, and Diabetes: The First Year. Any of these books will answer a lot of your questions and suggest what to eat for maximum benifit to your bod. They are available at your library, Ebay and most good bookstores.

To see which foods I needed to eliminate from my food plan, I checked my glucose, ate a food (say a banana), then checked my glucose level 90 minutes later. If the result was 150 or less I kept the food in food plan, if not like the banana sent me to 300, oatmeal to 500 they are out permanently!!

Journal all tests, foods, exercises, housekeeping etc. You will see a pattern emerge in a few weeks.

Good luck!
