Is there a way to decrease insulin resistance in diabetes? |
I have had type 2 diabetes for ten years. This year my blood sugar suddenly went out of control, and I had to begin using insulin. My doctor tells me that this is normal and I did nothing wrong in my diet; yet I have had to keep increasing the amount of insulin I use. I've been dieting and have lost 22lbs- it really hasn't helped, although I could stand to lose more weight. First, and foremost, lose excess weight through diet and/or exercise. Get a chart known as the Glycemic Index(can get one and an explanation at my website, naturescorner.com-most medical staff still are not aware of this scientifically determined chart) and eat the foods with low indexes. There are a number of supplements(again, naturescorner.com) that may normalize blood sugar levels.Stick with foods that contain 80-90 calories/ounce or less.Reduce the corn syrup(high and plain)/products containing this, sodas, and juices in your diet. You may also want to reduce or eliminate milk/milk products as milk proteins mimic the beta cells(insulin producing cells) in the body and a milk allergy can stimulate the body to attack the beta cells.Get your docto to try different insulins/combinations. As years go by, most insulins become less and less effective. The best of the insulins is derived from humans rather than swine or bovine.Visit naturescorner, my website. Exercise and proper nutrition! |
