Those With Insulin Resistance?

I would like to know what some of you with this metabolic condition do to lose weight. Like, what are your eating habits and what do you eat? How often and how long do you workout? I have this condition as well, and I'm just curious about how others handle it. Thanks! (I'm not asking for exact routines or anything, just an idea...)

As others mentioned you should talk to a doctor or dietician. I have dropped about 40 pounds in the past few months. I did it very simply and with out any aggressive steps. Granted I am a guy and we typically lose weight easy.

I just followed the basics:
For diet I watch the labels on what I eat. I'm diabetic so I keep lower carb foods. Typically I am around 60 g of carbs per meal. I watch fat all the time. Picking up the light or fat free items and just in general watching the serving sizes sizes. If the box says a serving is one cup and it contains 2 servings then I remember to only eat half the box. Serving sizes are always trouble. Did you ever notice that a bag of M&Ms candy is 2 servings? I also had the hardest time the first few weeks really reducing what I ate just to the standard serving sizes. My body always felt hungry after I finished eating for about 10 minutes. But that feeling went away and then I was surprised how the smaller servings really did sustain me.

Exercise is something every one has to do, but not in high intensity. In fact if you don't exercise regularly don't join a gym and get in on a spinners class. Aerobics are good but if your heart isn't conditioned enough you鈥檙e going to have a hard time. Just start by getting out and walking 2-3 times a day. Set an easy pace at first. You want your heart rate to go up and you want to sweat a little but if your really breathing hard or can feel your heart un your throat take a break your going to hard. I take my doggies for walks and they love it. Just 20 to 30 minutes. Then you can add more and longer sessions at your leisure.

Lastly don't weigh your self more than once a week. Always checking that scale is murder. Your weight will go up and down a little all day long based on when you ate or the last time you went to the toilet. Just pick a day and on that day first thing when you get up go weigh your self. Then don't think about the scale again until next week. I thought it was silly when I heard it but it really makes a big difference. And don't get frustrated if you only loose one or two pounds a week. This is not aggressive weight loss its slow healthy changes in your life style that will make a difference over time. Good luck.

for eating habits, go talk to your dietician :]

for working out, consult your physician first and discuss it with them...they'll help you find out whats okay for you. :]
