What is "insulin resistance"? In a nut shell - type 2 diabetic - Insulin resistance is the condition in which normal amounts of insulin are inadequate to produce a normal insulin response from fat, muscle and liver cells your pancreas produces insulin but your body restricts the utilization of all of it somehow.. one of the causes is obesity. fat interferes with the insulin. anyway, you can treat this through exercise and some insulin intake. You can also decrease your resistance with exercise. they have it nailed however Dr.s are also finding that some diabetics are forming insulin immunities. I have done so with many insulins. this is more common with type 1s though. i can no longer use any thing but lantis and novolog because of these immunities Insulin that your body is not responsive to. My doctors think that I might becoming Insulin resistant, which is a scary thought. |
