Insulin resistance & liver disease =[ help!?

I was recently diagnosed with these and was told by a couple of doctors to try Metformin. Anyone have any experience with this medication for these problems?? Before getting on it I would like to know how it helped people and if it's worth trying!!! Thanks!

The reason the metformin was recommended, aside from those two problems, is because I am unable to lose weight, no matter what. Insulin resistance and liver problems can both make it nearly impossible to successfully lose weight until they are controlled. So if the metformin causes weight loss, i guess thats good!!!

Insulin resistance, obesity, and fatty liver disease are all linked. Having any of the above conditions increases your chance of having another.

It is worth a shot to try Merformin. Together with a healthy diet, exercise, and weight loss/maintaining a healthy weight, you may be able to see some improvement in your liver enzyme numbers.

Insulin resistance is often a condition that is both caused by and helped by diet choices. Avoid processed high carb, fatty foods, and make your diet whole grains, lean meats, fresh veggies, and fruits. Depending on your liver function, you doctor may advise you to avoid red meats, and make your diet primarily vegetable based.

metformin is one the commonest drugs used in diabetic patient in order to control sugar levels where insulin has failed due to any reason. its major side effect which many people experience is weight loss. It works just fine and its tolerated by the body very well.

I don't know anything about Metformin, but I know that the pairing of insulin resistance and liver disease often occur when the person is overweight.

Trust your doctor, of course, but if you are overweight you might do more for your health by losing as little as 10%. At least that's what my doc says.

Insulin resistance is usually treated with metformin first. It is a systemic drug having to build up in your system for about a month before you see much difference in glucose levels.

Liver disease?? Fatty liver?? that isn't treatable and isn't deadly either.
