Can You Eliminate Insulin Resistance Syndrome? |
If you lose all the weight you've gained as a result of IRS, and maintain helathy eating habits (not dieting), is it safe to say that you have rid your body of IRS? (Obviously, if there is a family history of diabetes, the risk is there, but otherwise...) I haven't lost anything...yet. That's why I'm asking :) I have recently created a group that is dedicated to helping those with IRS, Pre-diabetes, or Diabetes 2. The problem with high BS can be diagnosed differently depending sometimes upon who is doing the diagnosis, so I don't take much stock in what it is called. If your glucose is running too high, it's a problem.. period. Our group is called "Overcoming Diabetes Naturally" and is dedicated to doing just that. I agree with another answer you received that we may not ever be able to say we have "rid" ourselves of these conditions but no one knows for sure. However, the important thing is to rid ourselves of the symptoms since the symptom of high glucose is a health risk. Therefore, it seems prudent to work on that and if it can be done without meds, so much the better in my opinion. That's why I founded the group. We try to help with personal advice (no one is a medical professional -- just people with IRS and diabetes 2) and a lot of support since lowering glucose without meds is not an easy task. If you or anyone else is interested the website is: I have IRS... The reversibility depends on whether or not you have already developed Type II diabetes (which is nonreversible). If you do not have diabetes, most people can get their blood pressure, triglycerides, blood sugar levels, and cholesterol levels all within or near healthy ranges from changes in diet and exercise. You are unlikely to achieve a full reversal with diet alone, or with exercise alone, but when combined, changes can occur quickly. Problems with IRS tend to return when people discontinue exercise and healthy eating. |
