Insomnia.?


i have insomnia, and i just got my perscription drugs tonight.
and i took one about 10 minutes ago, and i was wondering when it will start kicking in?
please let me know (:
oh and how many hours do you have to devote to sleep in order to wake up not tired>

Like all meds, these will take time too, at least an hour. But then, it also depends on the dosage and the sleep patterns that you have. Why dont you take a nice warm bath till then and a mug full of yummy hot chocolate?
A normal prescribed time for a person to wake up not tired usually is 8 hours. However, since you are suffering from insomnia, it might vary slightly.

it's more like a pattern of sleep...once you regularly get the same amount, preferably 7-8 hours, you shouldn't feel tired. Diet and exercise play into that too, as well as positive thinking.

There are many different meds that treat insomnia. Some act more quickly than others (minutes vs. hours). Some are not effective at all. You really have to experiment until you find the one that helps you sleep restoratively and not have a next day hangover. It's a trial and error process that you can discuss with your doctor. Why take drugs before you've tried treating it at home?

Here are some home remedies for insomnia you should try:

* Warm a glass of milk and add 1 tablespoon of honey in it. Drink before you go to sleep.
