Insomnia and prescription sleep meds?

I have battled insomnia for years. Like many insomnia sufferers it will go in spurts. I will sleep like a baby for months and then my insomnia will kick in. I will then get a prescription for a sleep med and take it nightly. I went through a period where I took Ambien regularly and then it completely stopped working. I had heard all the bad stories about Ambien so I stopped taking it. The last few months I have been taking Lunesta. It gets me to sleep but I wake up a few hours later.

So, now I am taking nothing at all. I am so tired but just can not sleep. It has been almost 48 hours since I have slept. I really just want to do it without any meds at all.

I just can not seem to turn my mind off at night. I have tons of daily stress and I think I bring it to bed with me every night. What can I do to get some rest?

read this, do this, remember this and you won't have insomnia anymore...

go to bed, lie face up, concentrate on your breathing moving your breath to your chest to your feet going further with it and in different areas all the time, also try breathing in the opposite manner with your belly going up and down as high and as low as possible every time trying to go further... do this for three or so minutes then sleep... it takes your mind off of things, it increases your circulation, blood and oxygen flow, and makes it very easy to sleep

you can also do light exercises before bed like jumping jacks and other weightless stuff, I like to do ten minutes before bed and ten minutes upon waking (thats enough to be in and get into excellent physical shape over time)

did same as you same meds not sure there is an answer

Here is a good site that I found with some good tips to help you out http://insomnia-relief-center.com I have the same problem with not being able to shut my mind off, hopefully some of these tips will help you with that.

Maybe u should learn some ways to overcome your insomnia problem through hypnosis at my profile.

you probably need an all natural sleep aid just like Sleep So Good cream..

You will be surprised at how quickly and effectively this product works helping support sleep symptoms associated with insomnia, restlessness, frequent waking, and other bothersome symptoms linked to sleep problems and disorders.
