Temporary insomnia?

I don't think that I have insomnia because I can sleep 1/2 the time but, like, for once or twice every month I don't sleep or I don't sleep much, like, 2 or 3 hours a night. It bothers me because I am so exhausted but I just can't sleep. I am not stressed or anything but I get really anxious or nervous and my heart races. I seriously just lay here, fidget, and try to sleep.
Is this insomnia? Or is it normal? What can I do to fix it?

when i said once or twice every month i meant one or two weeks.

Insomnia is often caused by fear, stress, anxiety, medications, herbs, caffeine, depression or sometimes for no apparent reason. Make sure your bedroom is quiet and dark. Soak a tablespoon of mint leaves in a cup of water for an hour, drink every night. Check out http://useinfo-insomnia.blogspot.com/ for more info

Unisom works better than phenobarbital - a barbituate - according to one study. I think you should try it. It is similar in structure to benedryl except it "sticks" a bit better to put it nontechnically. It works really well. Pick up a few tablets and use them as needed.

Additionally, for a non drug option try hypnosis tapes. Its fairly easy to record them yourself. Self hypnosis can work, but it takes practice and is less effective. Good luck!

Hey ,

Even I suffer the same thing.Have you noticed any pattern in this ..like it happens when your AF is coming or just over ?

Try drinking milk before bed time ...it should help :)

Have you thought about caffeine causing your problem? Many people develop this problem after never having the problem in the past. Remember that there is caffeine in tea, chocolate, and there is a small amount in decaf products. Sleeping in the evening, even a short nap, can cause irregular sleep patterns. If you have problems keeping your arms or legs still as you try to sleep, see your doctor. You may be having the symptoms of restless leg syndrome. This usually starts as just a occasional problem and usually progresses to more often over time. Hope these suggestions help. Sleeping pills of any kind are habit forming so be careful. Hope your problem is soon resolved since not being able to sleep at night can make your life very difficult during the day. Hope this helped.

If you feel exhaused from lack of sleep, then you have insomnia.

I agree with the last person who said that Self hypnosis tapes can be very helpful.

I have a copy of an ebook on insomnia that I could share with you. Email me at healthy.woman@yahoo.com

Maybe u should learn some ways to overcome your insomnia problem through hypnosis at my profile.
