Major Insomnia? |
I believe I have had insomnia for around 3-4 years now, I just don't sleep at night, no matter what, every once in awhile I will get so tired I will fall asleep early but this rarely ever happens, but when it does I could wake up at 7am and still not be able to sleep that night. Right now it is 8am and I have not slept yet, but I don't even feel the least bit tired. Not sure what I can do,I'm going to make a appointment with the Dr. BUT in the mean time does anyone have any ideas for helping me make myself sleep or where insomnia comes from ?? Thanks Don't torture yourself. The worst thing that an insomniac can do is to lie in bed tossing and turning. If you can't fall asleep after 15 to 20 minutes, get up and do a quiet activity, such as reading, watching TV, or listening to relaxing music. Then, go back to bed and try again. take some over the counter sleeping pills, if the normal dose doesnt work for you double it, thats what i used to do. You should try to get a prescription from your doctor for some sleeping pills. Try Ambien CR because it has a controlled release. one so you fall asleep fast and a slower one so you stay asleep. Take two Tylenol PM's..they put me out for 2 days! ME 2!!! The only time I can fall asleep faster is when I've done some kind of physical activity. I have never done drugs and don't plan on it. Have a Campbell's day! In the mean time try some over the counter vitamins like melatonin, you may need to get your doctor to prescribe something to help you with sleep like AMbien, Temazepam, or Lunesta. Another thing that might help you is try and write down your daily routines to see if their is something that might be triggering this to happen. For example eating late at night may keep you up, also drinking sugary drinks will keep you up too. I know alot of people who can't sleep because they are nervous or are anxious about something coming up the next day too. Try to get in a routine where you are relaxed prior to bedtime and also try no to use your bed as a place to watch TV because that triggers your mind into thinking its ok to not go to sleep, etc. Hope this helps! You could be experiencing some degree of stress, anxiety or depression. An appointment with a counselor might do you some good and help clear your mind. If you are lacking sleep, it also means that you are not producing enough red blood cells; in which case, you should eat more red meat and drink milk before sleeping. Improve your diet, exercise during the day and read a good book before you sleep. I hope this helps. |
