Do I have insomnia? |
For the past month or so I lay in bed for hours before I can fall asleep. Usually when I know I have to sleep because I have a lot to do the next day. It is almost every day even when I am completely exhausted. Is this anxiety related insomnia? If I go to the doctor will he just give me a pill (I don't want a pill)? I've cut caffeine, I don't lay in bed when I'm not tired, I don't watch tv before I go to bed...I just want to sleep! Anxiety and excessive worry can certainly cause insomnia. try NyQuil its good, the liquid one This site has some helpful information relating to insomnia and your circadian rhythms http://www.lighttherapy.com.au/sleepdiso... It sounds like your anxiety over not being able to sleep is keeping you keyed up and awake. Try a natural remedy called Melatonin (it can be found in most herbal stores and the body makes it naturally so it's not addictive) NyQuil is a cold remedy, why would you want to take that when your only problem is insomnia? It would be helpful to play some soft music (I play soft classical music but they have relaxation CD's to buy) between the melatonin and the music you should drift right off to sleep. The low iron will keep you exhausted so I don't think it is keeping you awake. Try to do something relaxing before bed. Happy dreams. Insomnia is often caused by fear, stress, anxiety, medications, herbs, caffeine, depression or sometimes for no apparent reason. Make sure your bedroom is quiet and dark. Soak a tablespoon of mint leaves in a cup of water for an hour, drink every night. Check out http://useinfo-insomnia.blogspot.com/ for more info What's changed these past months? Has your workload increased or are you taking on more responsibility at work? It's normal to worry about work and to feel anxious to go to sleep so you can at least face the day with energy. |
