Insomnia help??

I have had insomnia for the past five or so years. It takes me forever to go to sleep and usually I have to take nightime nyquil to go to sleep. and when i do go to sleep on time i end up waking up at least two or three times a night.

So i was wondering what types of medications would u recommend and/or any other types of therapy? like natural medicine or yoga or something like that? I'd really appreciate it.

take a warm bath before bed.. drink a glass of warm milk.. avoid caffeine and alcohol.. Don't watch TV or read before going to bed.. Stomach rub.. Progressive relaxation.. Deep breathing.. Visualize something peaceful.. Visualize something boring ..imagine it's time to get up.. Work out daily, even 30 minutes of daily exercise will give your body the activity and oxygen it needs to help you relax more and sleep better.avoid mini naps during other time.. Try keeping wake-up time early in the morning.. Your body likes regular routines. It likes to get up at the same time each day, eat at the same time and even to go to bed at the same time. So follow a routine.. Avoid drinking tea, coffee and soft drinks before going to sleep..Massaging the whole body before going to bed is one of the best remedies..Sleep with your head facing north or east.. Try some yoga meditation too.. i have given you some basics of it:

Mudra
Touch the tip of index finger (Targni) with the tip of thumb to form the Gyan Mudra. Acharya Keshav Dev calls this mudra as a Yogic Tranquilliser.

Pranayam
Deep breathing techniques like Bhastrika Pranayam help you fall asleep sooner and improve quality of sleep. The pranayam has a beneficial effect on the nervous system as it increases the process of elimination of toxins from the body and normalises the blood supply in the brain, which subsequently effects in relieving stress, tension and fatigue.

Process:
In fresh air, inhale and exhale rapidly through the nose for one minute; relax for a few seconds and repeat. Repeat for around 7-8 times at a stretch. (It should be practised before meals.)

Yogasan
Balakasan
This is the best pose to sleep in. Children usually sleep in this pose.
鈥?Lie on the stomach with the head turned to right side and the arms alongside the body with palms facing upward.
鈥?Bend the right arm and place the forearms on the floor with the palm downwards on the side of head. Keep the right elbow close to the body and be fully relaxed.
鈥?Now fold your right knee side wise. Normal and deep breathing. Both hands should be in Gyan Mudra. Relax in this pose as much as you can..
Good luck with it..

Calms Forte is a homeopathic medicine that I use and it really helps me fall asleep.

Melatonin, I think it works better than even Ambien or any OTC sleep aid. It may not work as well for you but I would say it is worth a try, it's not very expensive.

Sound sleeping is necessary for maintaining optimal health in adults and children. The human body needs adequate, quality sleep each night to function properly. For normal brain function, normal physical function and normal psychological function, the body needs rest. To combat sleeping problems, many patients turn to prescription drugs (AKA sleeping pills) or their over-the-counter spawns.

SleepSoGood鈩?is unlike all other sleeping aids. It is a natural sleep aid available here, without a prescription. Common prescription sleep aids contain dangerous and powerful narcotics. SleepSoGood鈩?is a narcotic-free sleep aid, free from side effects!

Studies show those who use SleepSoGood鈩?wake in the morning fully refreshed! They have no problem waking on time and do not experience the traditional groggy feelings associated with many prescription sleep aids.

Insomnia is often caused by fear, stress, anxiety, medications, herbs, caffeine, depression or sometimes for no apparent reason. Make sure your bedroom is quiet and dark. Soak a tablespoon of mint leaves in a cup of water for an hour, drink every night. Check out http://useinfo-insomnia.blogspot.com/ for more info
