Could insect repellent trigger photoallergic eruptions?

Does anyone know if insect-repellent sprays can trigger photoallergic eruptions??

I have searched the net but can't find too much info.

For those that don't know, a photoallergic eruption is severe skin rashing and burning caused by the combination of sunlight and some chemical.

My mother keeps getting these eruptions when she goes to my dad's house and we're trying to eliminate all possible causes, but don't know where to start so we thought that maybe insect repellent could be the cullprit as my dad uses a lot of that.

Your help would be appreciated!

Thanx!!

Yes

Certain chemicals ingredients used in such preparations can cause sensitivity

I'll check out some details and get back -- but one way you can check the products for yourself is to get the free toxic chemicals publication from here: http://www.gonando.com

You could check all the ingredients and see if any apply to photosensitivity! Amazingly some sun creams contain ingredients which can cause this problem too!!

As far as 'natural' sensitizers go: These essential oils can cause photosensitivity and some maybe be used in certain repellents or other topical products:

Bergamot oil

Plus citrusy fruit peel essential oils like
Lemon
Grapefruit
Orange
Mandarin
Tangerine

Tea Tree

Does she use any of these or products that contain them?

I would think anyone could be more sensitive to some products than others. Guessing you are meaning some like Off or Skin so Soft to keep mosquitoes away
