Is there any home remedies to reduce the chances of me getting bit by a flea or mosquito?

Refering to http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?... ...

Anyways, is there any home remedies instead of eating a clove or some parts of a garlic each day to reduce the chances of me getting bit by fleas or mosquitoes? or my "sweet" blood. In addition to buying insect repellents, they don't work what-so-ever. Or what should I eat to get rid of that sweet blood taste from fleas and mosquitoes?

looking at answers for Both mosquitos and fleas, esp. fleas.

Skin So Soft is pretty good, and products with DEET.

But mosquitos respond to heat, so whomever gives off the most heat, gets bit the most. In a crowd, they'll go for me.

Fleas always bite me if they are in the house, could be the same thing. But I have low body fat, and almost none near my feet and ankles. The fleas bite all around my big blood vessels just under the skin on my feet and ankles.

Try wearing more layers of light loose clothing with minimal skin exposed.

Reduce mosquitos by having no standing water on your property.

For fleas, add some diatomaceous earth in your lawn and garden. Its tiny bits of broken shells, which scratches fleas hard covering and causes them both respiratory trouble and to dry out. They die, you don't get bit.

We use Frontline for both our dog and cat. Cat is indoor outdoor, and we see almost no fleas, ever. Pets rarely even scratch.

Dont eat bananas and sleep under a mosquito net for stopping the dreaded mossie bites but fleas different kettle of fish... dont have pets or have them treated byt the vet to stop them being afflicted by fleas

don't use the sprays which have DEET in them too much they are a bit poisonous and designed for use occasionally. Here in China I can buy an alcohol based deterent which has citronella in it a natural deterrent for mossies, made from a member of the lemon grass family I do believe.

there is such a thing as an electroinc deterant which emits a high pitched noise they dont lke, its too high for us to hear but keeps them away.

some people are naturally immune to mossie bites I'm blood group b and they love to eat me alive if I give themthe chance..
remember most mossies only feed around dawn and dusk, or so they say but I can bitten anytime day or night so Iguess they havent told the mossies here what time to feed, it's only the female ones who bite humans for the blood to make eggs for more mossies...femal of the species is always more deadly than the male..
hope this helps

SKIN SO SOFT!!!! Believe it or not Iraq is loaded with soldiers carrying a container of Skin So Soft. The stuff works wonders. Use it. I guarantee the stuff will not let you down. I mean Im talking sweaty, nasty, stink from being the sun and desert without a shower for a week soldiers. The Army issues the stuff out.

this sounds stupid but works, keep a few dryer sheets like the ones you throw in in each pocket or one paper cliped to the outside of the pocket, mosquitos cannot stand the smell, fleas i do not know about.

Mosquitoes go for a certain temperature of a warm blooded animal. You could try a citronella plant in your home. The only thing you have to remember is that you have to snap a few of the pines (not the stem) each time to release the fragrance and that seems to keep away the mossies, but not for long.

Use a commercial insect repellant if you want better protection. Insect proof your home and have double insect doors.
