Does anyone know if it is safe to have a plug in insect repellent if u suffer from asthma?

someones told me its dangerous to use them if u suffer from asthme but we are going to greece and i dont dont want to get bit to death my the mossies over there i have been told theres loads of them

I wouldn't as so may things can cause an asthma attack.

Everyone has different triggers try it with caution perhaps at home first

Asthmatic attacks can be triggered by those repellant. But not for everybody. If you never developed wheezing due to those kind of things earlier you are safe. If you realy want it try it for one minite in a place where you can get medical advice(if needed)

Only do it in a large room i.e Hallway -if its a weak scent should be fine as appose to a strong scent!

My kids all suffer from asthma and we've always used plug-ins with no ill-effect.

You could also try taking vitamin B supplements...but on checking it out, there is no evidence for its success. (Tho I swear by it.)

there are a couple of things that u need to take into consideration:

- different repellents will give off different chemicals.

- different people who suffer from asthma will have their
asthma triggered by different things.

have u thought about getting some of those citronella candles, or researching online for something that is made out of natural essential oils ?

try having a look at this website:

safariquip.co.uk (look under insect repellent)

from the look of things they discuss different types of repellent, natural ones and standard ones.

hope this helps

i woulsd say yes, i have had asthma of years and never suffered any problems. However you can buy some that you burn, these did make me feel short of breath.

i think you need to make a descission, how bad is your asthama? if in doubt contact your pharamist for advice

If you have asthma then anything plugged in to release a chemical into the atmosphere will not be good for you. Best to look for citronella, a natural anti-mosquito repellant, which is applied to your skin and should not affecct your breathing. I used a plug-in once and woke up looking like I had been through 6 rounds with Muhammed Ali, not a pretty sight! Good luck, Enjoy Greece.

We have some electric plug ins that work on sound only.they're very good and do not cause problems

Provided the room is well ventilated I think it unlikely that the plug will affect your asthma to any degree. Of course if you do get more wheezy stop using it.

i would suggest that no one has any truck with any of these things, including the things that scent rooms, toilets etc. they are all chemical and therefore not good in the atmosphere, asthmatic or not

they don't bother my asthma ,try one at home first and if your ok then take some with you

I am not sure but I would not risk it, you do not want an attack when in a foreign country.
I hear marmite when eaten keeps the blighters away.
You could also use the stuff you buy from Boots on a roll on or after sun with bug repellent in it.

Have fun.
