What do insect bites itch? |
What makes insect bites itchy? I dont care about making the itch go away or whatever I'm just curious as to what makes it itchy... I meant to write "WHY" do insect bites itch lol Chemical/biological or allergic reaction, unless your talking about a mosquito, THEY itch for the same reason that they don't hurt when they bite you, they have a mild anesthesia in their feeder/nose, which reacts with your skin. The saliva from a mosquito causes an allergic reaction in your skin which causes the itch. Get some cortaid. Stuff works wonders. Way better than calamine lotion. When the female mosquito takes your blood, she also deposits the itchy stuff, which consists of her saliva and anti-coagulants. (Male mosquitos don鈥檛 bite.) In some insect bites they inject formic acid, especially ant bites, like red ants, this causes allergic response in humans with histamine release |
