What's the best thing to use to treat insect bites? |
It gets so itchy I want to scratch it all day! What is a good cure for the bites? I am in the UK, so need products I can buy over here. you should be able to get witch hazel there and you swab it on the bite after taking a warm bath, the warm bath opens the pore adn the witch hazel helps draw out the insect poison and closes the pore to reduce the itchy sensation undiluted vinegar works really well and is cheap. Look for an anti itch ointment. Good old baking powder - just make a paste of it and apply to wound. a natural remedy that works is salt, preferably sea salt with all the minerals in it (the grayish blue stuff). rubbing that on mosquito bites works to relieve the itchiness. it's a chemical free (so safe) and cost effective way to treating mosquito bites. best remedy is to take an anti histamine tablet. Germaline!!!! It is wonderful, it contains antiseptic to (hopefully) stop infection as well as anaesthetic which takes away the pain/itchiness! Calmine lotion is the best out there, both heals and relieves the itch instantly. Try vinegar What I have found is what works for me, wont work for you, as we are all different. And what works for a mosquito bite doesnt necessarily work for a ant bite. Where we live we have ants that are just horrid and they bite and not much works. all thats listed above does help. Never heard of the germaline tho, thats a new one. I have also found that also corizone cream with anti itch, does help. None seem to do it for me totally, just keep using it and it HELPS till it heals back up. I do think I am allergic, but I am allergic to antihistimines, so dont know how to do that one in my case. Even one little antihistimine pill stays with me for a week, like I am on some illegal drug like speed or something. never took illegal drugs, but I have taken rx diet pills and they did the same. doc said to never touch any antihistimes, and its not uncommon to over react, so be careful to watch for side effects if you do try those. ok They made my heart race and pounded so hard , like my heart would come out my back, I have several in my family that do this too, even at young ages. BE careful using them and watch for side effects. call your doc if you see any. What works for me may not work for you and vice versa. dont know if there are any herbal things that would work like antihistimines without the side effects. Not too much in the KNOW on that. You just have to see what works for you I was told that the first thing to do was to wash off the bite was soap and water, to get off any poisonous stuff left on top of the skin. Hope some of these will work for you. |
